Grandfather: Portraits of Grief and Loss

In 2023 I lost two grandfathers. I lost my maternal grandfather: Tom Siebert, on May 5th.

I then lost my paternal grandfather: Everett McKeown, on September 5th. Both lost to cancer.

I shot this intimate portrait series in my grief, not only to process this tremendous loss but to show that grief isn’t linear.

The final photo in this series was taken just one week shy of the loss of my maternal grandmother Nan Siebert who I lost on March 13th.

The cycle of grief begins again.

These photos were taken from May of 2023 until March of 2024.

The project is completed.
